“I am a first year medical student at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. I am a first generation college student and a first generation Portuguese-American citizen. If you speak to anyone who knows me, there are three facts they can recite immediately about who I am: I am Portuguese (and proud of it), I love my family, and I really enjoy cooking/eating food (which probably stems from my heritage since Portuguese food is, by far, the best food in the world). I would like to thank PALCUS and all of its sponsors who have helped me over the years afford my collegiate education. Upon entering graduate school, one of my biggest concerns was the tuition. This scholarship is an incredible blessing, and I promise to make you all, and the Portuguese community, proud by doing my upmost best to become the best physician possible.”
